Cypress and Nuva College of Engineering and Technology Announce Partnership to Establish Design Facility

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (NYSE:CY) today announced that the Cypress University Alliance is partnering with Nuva College of Engineering and Technology in Nagpur, India to establish a next-generation academic design facility. Students and faculty will have access to Cypress’s full suite of PSoC® programmable system-on-chip and EZ-USB FX2LP™ USB2.0 controller software tools and development kits for teaching and research.

Students and faculty will also have easy access to Cypress-sponsored training, technical support and curriculum development assistance. PSoC’s integrated microcontroller, highly configurable analog and digital peripherals, and full set of development tools make it an ideal learning tool for developing mixed-signal embedded design skills.

“This partnership will allow Nuva’s students to receive hands-on design experience using Cypress’s industry-leading technology,” said Chandra Bhople, Nuva’s Director of Academics. “With Cypress’s help, our students will enter the workforce with the skills necessary to quickly be productive in the fast-paced world of engineering and computer science.”

Nuva also plans to participate in the Cypress Innovator Design Challenge in 2009. The Cypress Innovator Design Challenge is a regional, multi-discipline engineering design contest open to all undergraduate and graduate engineering students currently enrolled in an accredited university. The contest's goal is to challenge students to stretch their imaginations as they develop new and novel ways to utilize Cypress technologies such as the PSoC.

“Empowering students to develop the skill sets needed to compete and win in today’s marketplace is the cornerstone of the Cypress University Alliance,” said the Alliance’s director, Patrick Kane. “We look forward to working with Nuva as they build out their next-generation design facility.”
